Feeding Preterm Infants
Feeding Preterm Infants is a multimedia training CD ROM which includes video, photos, text, and audio.  Evidence supporting feeding preterm infants using developmentally supportive practices is provided through documentation of research findings in relevant literature. The CD ROM provides descriptions on using infant behavior to guide developmental feeding practices such as developing a feeding plan and identifying cues indicating readiness to feed.  Video demonstrations are included showing infant engagement, pauses, how to position during feeding, and environmental considerations during feeding.  When to terminate the feeding as well as how to determine the success of the oral feeding are also discussed.  Developmentally supportive practices regarding feeding are demonstrated including how to encourage positive oral experiences from birth, non-nutritive sucking, how to maximize endurance, enhance swallowing, and protection of respiration.
